Hello,
I am George Anthony Maxwell and I wrote and composed most of the content of
the Maxwell World Web Site. My home is in the old Maxwell lands of south-west
Scotland in the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright. I am forty-seven years old and have
been actively reading and researching Maxwell history for over twenty five years.
I inherited the role of family historian upon the death of the late John Maxwell
Nithsdalein the early 1990's. In the late 1980's, I was one of the founders
of The Maxwell Society which had but a brief existence due to the workload of
the various organisers.I recently completed a four year study period as a mature student.and I felt that before I got back to work, I should concentrate on putting down some of my knowledge of the Maxwell family for the benefit of others, hence this web site. I have gathered so much information over the years it has been difficult to transcribe it into compact and readable tracts and readers will undoubtedly come across shortfalls in information expected. I do intend to 'plug' the holes in the fullness of time. I confess that my knowledge is mostly limited to what I have been able to research in the United Kingdom but as all Maxwells will eventually find their roots in these islands, I hope that is not a problem.
