Researching the Maxwell clan. My GGGreat Grandfather was Simon Maxwell, b. in Ohio between 1823- 1827. His Father was from Canada and his mother from Ohio. Simon married a Mahala ? and produced 5 children that I know of: Nancy, James, Edward, Mary Jane (died young), Samuel. They all lived in Grant Co., IN according to 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880 Census records. Mahala must have died, because Simon married a Mary E. Newcomb (I've seen Sutton as well) on Sept. 27, 1873. They also produced five children that I know of: Lyolida (may be just Lida, or even Lena), George A. (can find him later in Jasper Co., IL), David P., Sarah (Lulu), my GGrandmother, and Lola who was later adopted when Mary died as well and Simon gave up his three youngest children to the children's home in Indiana. I have some information on Lola. Hope to hear from someone from this family.
