Trying to discover the identiy of the Lord Maxwell mentioned in this obit: "Mrs. John Scott, Ellen Maxwell, was born in Monreith, Scotland, in 1820, the daughter of James Maxwell, a son of Lord Maxwell. Her parents were among the first to settle in Lanark." This refers to Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.  Can anyone identify this Lord?  My own research has gone nowhere.
