Research into my own Bell family tree has unearthed records concerning Roderick Maxwell's 1935 conviction for armed robbery - he got 8 years BTW despite being married with a baby and it being his first offence. I have copies of the events reported in both the London Times and The Scotsman. The unwilling witness for the prosecution was James Bell and after absconding, being arrested, forced to testify he eventually gets handed down a prison sentence for contempt. Does anyone know anything about this, especially anything relating to where James ran to after his release as I doubt he stayed in Armadale ;-) Feel free to email me, mark AT motleyweb.net Mark |
