I know this is very little help but a bite of information that has always stuck with me. My husband's Maxwell hail from Ohio, WVA, and then into Illinois. We were researching in Kendall County, Illinois for his Sergeant/Sargents when I came across a simple sentence in one of the books that read "Mr. Maxwell, school teacher and long time resident of White Willow has left to teach in Russia." I always wondered if he somehow tied into my Maxwells of the neighboring town of Joliet.
