My grandfather was John F.Maxwell, born in the Hillsboro, Texas area in 1889.  He had a half-brother Bob, and other siblings listed below.  His father was Hezikiah Maxwell who was born in 1848 and died in 1920 in Hillsboro.  His father was William P. Maxwell, born about 1802, who came to Texas via Murphresboro, Tennessee, possibly from North Carolina.  Family lore is that the woman he married in Tennessee, Louisa Smotherman, who is my g-g-grandmother, was one of his five wives.  Family lore says that William P. had a total of 21 sons, and he died in 1907 at the age of 105. The children of Hezikiah Maxwell, who was born in 1843, are Bob, Laster, William (a great-uncle of mine), Roxie Maxwell Jackson, James Calvin Maxwell, and John Frank, who was my grandaddy.
