Hi Deb, I am also interested in Maxwells in Armagh, Ireland. I know very little about my Maxwell ancestors. I'm not absolutely sure that they lived in co. Armagh. But I do know that my grandfather, John Maxwell Collison, used to say that the Collisons had come from that county. The maiden name of his grandmother was Mary Emily Maxwell, who married his grandfather, John J. Collison, a farmer. The had several children of whom his father, William Henry Collison was one. We have been advised by a researcher that he found the birth record of a William Henry Collison, born on the birthday of this one, but in Dublin. As this was at the time of the famine (1847) I have theorized that the family of John J and Mary Emily were chased from the land by the famine. In 1873 William Henry Collison came to British Columbia, Canada as a Church of England missionary. The family seems to have connections with other churches so it's possible that he was raised in another church, maybe Presbyterian? I have done little to find the origins of Mary Emily Maxwell in Ireland. I would be most grateful if anyone should happen to know anything that would help in any way.
