Hello, My 3rd Grgrandmother was Jane Maxwell who married a John Dowling in November 1816 in St Canice's Church, Kilkenny Ireland. Her uncle, with whom she lived before getting married, was John Maxwell, a woollen threadmaker, who lived in Butts Green, Kilkenny. Her parents' names are not known but her brothers "emigrated to America", I presume before 1816. Jane's grandson, John Smyth, went to America and fought in the Civil War. He was wounded and returned to Ireland. This is a real longshot but any information would be very helpful.
