A Hendrik Maxwil (?-1775) is my 6th great-grandparent. The surnames Maxwil/Wils etc. seemed to be interchangeable. I myself are a descendant of Johanna Maxwil, Hendrik's granddaughter.

Hendrik Wiels married 2 APR 1736 at Breda (Noord-Brabant province) as a soldier from Colonel Gerlach van Doys Regiment (Infantry) to Johanna Blok from Oosterhout. 17 DEC 1736 at Breda a daughter Cornelia Maxwil was baptised. Johanna Blok was buried 11 DEC 1741 at Grave (Noord-Brabant province) as a soldier's wife. The widower Hendrick Wils married 18 APR 1742 at Grave as a soldier from Company Captain Ernst Willem van Bilderbeek (Colonel Gerlach van Doys Regiment) to the widow Alegonda Theunisse. Colonel Gerlach van Doys Regiment was stationed 1731-1734 at Emden (Germany), 1734-1737 at Breda, 1737-1744 at Grave, 1744 Venlo. I guess that Hendrick Maxwil/Wils was a enlisted soldier, born around 1710 in the western parts of Noord-Brabant province, with possible Scottish roots. The name Maxwell was a familiair name for instance at Bergen op Zoom from 16th century on. Any link to this Hendrik/Henry would be helpful
