I have traced my lineage back to Hugh Maxwell I (b. 1648) of Caerlaverock Castle who emigrated (fled?) to Port-a-Ferry, County Downs, Ireland and died there. His line descends in Ireland to Hugh Maxwell V  (1777-1860) who emigrated to Franklin County PA where his son Thomas Bristol Maxwell M.D. (1803-1873), my 2nd Great Grandfather, was born and died. Thomas got his medical training in Philadelphia. Can anyone shed any light on how Hugh Maxwell I fits into the history of the Maxwell clan?
