I have records of John and Jane Maxwell, who immigrated from Londonderry, Ireland about 1753, to S. Carolina at Charleston. They settled at Boonesborough, in the Long Cane Creek area about 10 miles north of the present town of Abbeville. Their son Robert fought in the Revolution, was S.Carolinas first delegate to the First Contiental Congress, and First Sheriff of Washington District, now Greenville, Anderson and Pickens counties. I am currently trying to save what is left of his plantation house and the family cemetery and am not a relative. |
