Melba: Your Thomas could be the Father of William that I have been looking for. William Maxwell was born in "Calolina" in 1785 according to what was handed down. He was one of the earliest settlers in the Washington Co., Ar. area in the early 1800's, first son Audley was born in Ar. in 1818. The 1850 census for that area had William as born in Tn. I think his family must have moved to Tn. when he was very young and he considered that his home. He married Ann Rhea Billingsley in 1817. Also in the 1850 census were Thomas W. Maxwell b. in Ky. and wife Ferebe b. in Tn. Half of their children were born in Tn. before moving to Ar. Another Thomas Maxwell b. in Tn. about 1810, wife Serena b. Tn. I have been trying to find Williams parents and siblings. I think the two Thomas' are related to him but have no proof. There is the possibility that Ann Rhea was his second wife as she is 15 years younger than him. Does any of this fit with what you have? Would appreciate any help Pat |
