I read what's been posted and am curious to know more. I have a line that starts in Dumfries with William Maxwell who came to NYC around 1680; he had two sons Audley and James, both of whom moved to Liberty Co., GA in 1751. Anyway, here's what I got: 1. William Maxwell born mid 17th c. (Dumfries) - NYC 1680. 2.Audley Maxwell & James Maxwell - GA 1751 3. John James (d. 1780); William (b 1739 d 12.28.1807 4.John Jackson (b 1784 Belfast Co GA, d Leon Co FL 1855) 5.William McWhir (b 12.27 1807; d 1.31 1880) George Troup (married Hettie Jones from book - the Children of Pride - very well documented geneology - I dare say rivals anything the OLD country might be able to squirrel up - with all the 'crest buying' business from around 100 years ago - records aren't nearly as accurate as we may be led to believe.) (these two had children who got married - just to add to the confusion) 5.Williams son - 6.Clarence William (b 1853) 5.George's daughter - 6.Anna Leila (the numbers are generations, by the way) their children: 7.William Troup (b 1879; d?) Rebecca Elwell (my grandmother)(b1881; d1970) Richard Brailsford (b 1883; d 1896) Jane Constant (?) I hope you find this input a little more constructive cousin.
