Hi Ann: I'm 65 and have lived on Vancouver Island most of my life. My father was Orval maxwell, the only child of Ernest Earl(Max)Maxwell and Sadie (Adair). He was raised in Youngstown Alberta and married Nora sudron Mills, one of 3 daughters of Eddy Mills and Elsie (Sudron). Not a lot is known about my grandfather's parents or his upbringing.  I recall some vague conversation about him being sent as a child from somewhere in the northwestern states, maybe Everret Washington, to be raised by relatives in Ontario. They were farmers and he had cousins there.  When he was old enough he bought a .22 calibre pistol and headed west.  He eventually was the supervisor of municipal hospitals in Alberta.  I have a photo of him as a child wearing full Scottish regalia.
