Not sure of this is right because there is a lot of conflicting stuff out there, but I have a a John B. Maxwell, born Nov of 1805 in Weakley County, TN (West TN near the KY line).  His father is Joseph Maxwell, born circa 1774 in Mecklenburg County, NC and that is where I hit the wall. Weakley County is about 100 miles NE of Haywood County.  BTW:  Joseph Maxwell was married to Elizabeth Monteith (NFI). Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
