My cousins and I are at a standstill and any help will be appreciated. James Maxwell, born in GA about 1822, was in the Paulding County, GA 1850 census (dist.951, hh#818) but we have been unable to locate him before then.  He was then in Heard County, GA in 1860 and Randolph County, AL in 1870 where he died before 1872 when his widow was back in Heard County, GA.  We have record of (probably) three wives and 14 children.  The main mystery is "who were James' parents"?  We're beginning to believe he arrived in Georgia in 1850 on a space ship!
