Hello: If you go to www://hometown.aol.com/dnamaxwell/myhomepage you will find two lines (clan 019) descended from Thomas and Mary McPhaill Maxwell. We were told Thomas was descended from a William Maxwell of Wilmington, NC, who took the oath of loyalty to NC and served Col. William Washington of the Cont. Army. However, a James Maxwell, a judge of Duplin Co.,NC, helped form the county of Sampson where Thomas became a judge before he moved to Cumberland Co, NC. Would love to compare your research with what I have. |
